A new article by the Financial Times reports that Apple is joining forces with the four major record labels in an effort to bolster the sales of full length albums through iTunes.
It's a short (yet thought provoking) read with few details, but the gist of the piece is that both parties are hoping to encourage full length downloads by packaging albums with additional multimedia content (such as album artwork and videos). According to the piece, the project may launch as soon as September of this year.
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, as Apple is no slouch when it comes to new ideas. Give it a read and stop by the Manhattan Sound Recording Facebook Group to discuss!
